Hi There! My name is Martha Bassett. I’m a singer/songwriter/guitarist living and working in the piedmont region of NC, where I host The Martha Bassett Show. It’s a monthly musical variety show at the Reeves Theater in Elkin which features national, regional, and local musicians and also showcases my music and band. My programming is heavy on female artists. Collaboration always happens. We livestream every show on facebook and release portions of shows on TMBS Podcast.
I also have a monthly jazz residency at the Gas Hill Drinking Room at The Ramkat in Winston-Salem where I perform tunes from the Great American Songbook in a trio format.
On Wednesday nights I lead music at Roots Revival, an Americana worship service at Centenary UMC which explores the intersection of faith and secular music. I’m also a long-time scholar of the music of the Shakers.
To date I’ve made 11 records, the last 2 with my current 6-piece band. I play shows throughout the region and when I can, I tour and work nationally in all of these capacities. One of the most important things that I’ve learned from touring is that there’s no place like home. My music and my small successes are very much tied to the people who’ve supported my career for over 20 years. I’m a lucky woman.
