Martha Bassett

The Band

Sam Frazier

…is one of those guitar players that always plays the right thing at the right time, no matter the style of the song.   His song writing prowess is well-known and we’re taking full advantage of that.  Sam’s soulful vocal style sweetly roughens up our 3-part harmonies.   Despite his somewhat surly disposition, he is beloved by people of taste and cats (not just the one he feeds).  And he’s one sexy dude.

Pat Lawrence

…has a boyish energy unsurpassed in my musical experience.  When traveling far from home, Pat and I work as a duo, and he’s my favorite singing partner.  Bad-ass bass player, yes, but Pat is really an idea guy.  One could become rich on his ideas for websites alone.  He’s producing our new disc and is largely responsible for our arrangements and overall sound.  His mantra:  work harder, not smarter!

Ben Singer

Ben Singer was born into a British family of professional bluegrass musicians living in Israel.  As a child he played spoons in the family band.  Taking a detour as a euphonium major at Eastman School of Music and several years as a jazz pianist, Ben found himself in North Carolina playing the banjo, his father’s instrument.  He has grown to be a tour de force multi-instrumentalist, playing with the Martha Bassett Band, Modern Robot, and fronts Ben Singer and the Dangerous Ideas.  In fact, Ben is interested in just about every instrument…except the spoons.  www.benesing.com.

Eddie Walker

…has very deep pockets.  I’ve jealously watched Eddie play with different groups around Greensboro for years and finally have the pleasure of working with him myself.  He’s tasteful yet aggressive with a lyrical and composition approach to form.  A talented singer and songwriter…devoted husband and dad…did I mention he’s a really nice guy?
